How We Do It?
In conjunction with our expertise in electric utility bill
auditing and our understanding of power company
rate schedules, Electric Solution uses a 5th generation
 micro-processing load control unit, to maximize
savings and efficiency for our clients.
This product, is designed to work with time-of-use
rates by controlling ‘demand’, during “on peak” hours
(the unit is idle during off peak hours). During on peak
hours, the Energy Sentry measures all of the
electricity coming into a facility and manages demand
(kW) to a preset limit, by transparently cycling on and
off heating, air conditioning and other controlled
items.
For example, when power consumption gets near the
end of a 30 minute cycle (“on Peak” demand is
usually measured in 30 minute increments) and our
unit detects the power is going to exceed the preset
limit; it transparently cycles the necessary HVAC or
other equipment, usually for around 3 to 6 minutes.
Once that 30 minute demand period is satisfied, it
returns all HVAC and other controlled equipment to
normal operating status. The unit functions like a
“traffic cop” directing devices according to the
“electric traffic” during congested (peak) time periods.
Multiple devices such as heating and cooling
systems are controlled in sequence. In other words,
if there are 10 HVAC systems being controlled in a
large building or facility, the equipment may only
need to cycle units 1 & 2 in a given 30 minute period.
In the next 30 minute period requiring control, the
system would start controlling with unit 3 and not go
back to unit 1 until all 10 units have cycled. Chillers
on the other hand, are not turned off; rather the
capacity is lowered (usually) in 20% increments.
There are days where no control is necessary (because demand stays within the preset limits). We
rarely control air conditioning during the four summer
months and guarantee transparency in all of our work.
Electric Solution focuses on what is called “Load
Control”. Load control does not reduce how much
energy you use, it just controls when you use it.
The unit is installed beside the main service panel.
We have licensed electricians on staff that do the
installations, programming, and any additional
programming modifications needed after installation.
In the electric industry, this type of work is referred to
as Demand Side Management (or DSM). The
electric utilities are heading in this direction. All over
the country, in State Legislatures and State Utility
Commissions, there is a big push to maximize
resources out of existing electric generating plants,
before building new ones. This requires conservation
(using less kWh) and energy efficiency (lowering
kW).

utilities as well as the NC Utilities Commission. In
addition, we are very active with our city, state and
federal legislators in an effort to obtain government
assistance in the form of subsidizations for the
equipment we install for our clients.

No Out of Pocket Expense
Electric Solution works on a contingency basis and through performance contracts. If we are not able to reduce your electric bill, then you pay us nothing.
Even if we are able to reduce your electric bill through any of our unique processes, then you still do not pay us anything up front.
